The Challenge: From Static 2D to Dynamic Real-Time Engagement
The client faced four key limitations:
- Only a 2D design of the mascot existed.
- The experience had to be fully live and interactive with a specialist audience.

The goal: Turn the existing 2D brand asset into a compelling 3D real-time hologram that could speak Arabic, answer questions, and engage naturally with delegates across a three-day live event.

1. 3D Character Creation – Transforming ‘Oxy’ from 2D to 3D
Starting from a flat image, we created a fully textured, rigged, and expressive 3D character in just 7 steps, including blend shapes for emotional facial expressions.

- The skeletal rig controls how the character moves, bends, and reacts in real-time.
- The final rig is combined with shading to prepare for real-time animation.
- Facial rigging enables emotion, lip-sync, and micro-expressions for dialogue and performance.

2. Animation Retargeting – Real-Time Performance Mapping
We used motion retargeting to map a professional Arabic-speaking performer’s body and facial movements directly onto the character—ensuring lifelike, real-time interaction even across differing body proportions.
This is the process of mapping the movement of the performers skeleton to the skeleton of a character, even if that character has significantly different proportions or fewer fingers.
3. Stage App – Real-Time Character Streaming Engine
We embedded the 3D character into a custom Unreal Engine app—Stage—allowing Oxy to be streamed live to the venue’s holographic display via a high-spec laptop and HDMI connection.

4. Performer Training – Authentic Arabic Interaction
The selected performer was trained to act as Oxy, complete with briefings on medical terminology and audience engagement techniques. Real-time Arabic interaction was essential for credibility and impact.
